In the past, Adventurers League adventures were split up into “Seasons”. Each season was related to a specific Wizards of the Coast hardcover D&D adventure.

For the first three seasons, Adventurers League was originally called “Expeditions”. Adventure codes started with “DDEX”.
All of these adventures are playable by Forgotten Realms characters only.

Starting in Season 4, Expeditions was renamed to “Adventurers League”. Adventure codes changed to begin with “DDAL”.
With the exception of Season 4, all of these adventures are playable by Forgotten Realms characters only. Season 4 is playable by Forgotten Realms or Ravenloft characters.

During Season 10, Wizards of the Coast introduced the Dungeoncraft (DC) program, a way for the community to create their own adventures. Season 10 DC adventures were prefixed with “DC-PoA”.
After Season 10, Wizards of the Coast stopped producing their own AL adventures. Instead, the community took over the production of AL adventures as new hardcovers were released. The program was also expanded to include other AL campaigns, such as Dragonlance and Ravenloft.
